tok sen

Tok Sen is a traditional northern Thai massage modality using wooden mallets and pegs to hammer tension away. The rhythmic tapping of the tools uses vibration to work deeply into muscle and fascia beneath the surface, while providing a kind of hypnotic relaxation effect. It stimulates both circulation, soft tissue and tendons, as well as acupressure points. The hammering can also be used in a stretched position to manually lengthen muscles. It does wonders for those suffering from chronic headaches due to tension or poor posture.

Kelly studied Tok Sen in a traditional Thai medicine clinic north of Chiang Rai, during her study visit in 2013. She still uses her original tools from the clinic, made from a tamarind tree, as well as others she scoped out from the nightly street markets in Chiang Rai and Chaing Mai, where the technique originated.

Note : Tok Sen is not meant to hammer directly on bone!

(So that Kelly can use the tools she feels fit the client, all massage modalities are included in either your deep tissue or Thai massage at no extra charge.)
