It is with many emotions that I must tell you the studio is changing soon :
I plan to discontinue hosting all group classes at MAYA at the end of August. The showcase on 8.25 + 26 will be our final event under the MAYA umbrella.
I will be returning to a solo shop, offering only private aerial lessons for singles and duos. This will free up more time to be available for my massage clients, to increase my personal aerial training, and to develop my educational + mobility resources for aerial teachers and movers.
Aerials in Greenville is most certainly not going anywhere — nor am I! In reality it is just expanding, as this team leaves my nest and starts teaching for themselves. The teachers will continue to offer group classes inside the Lofts studio, just as soon as they can set up their own insurance and administrative procedures. Look for a new schedule soon! But know that you'll be able to enjoy your favorite teachers, and still practice under the twinkly lights in our Lofts studio!
I cannot commend and recommend this team highly enough. When I first moved back to bring aerials to GVL in 2014, I had no concept of what it might look like, or what I might actually create. Then some students just wouldn’t stop coming to class ;) So I trained them. I couldn’t ask for a more loyal, hard working, supportive and positive team. Now I know, my job was to mold them, and they are my true gift to GVL. If it’s true that the people around you reflect what you attract and stand for, then I couldn’t be more proud. Yes, they are bad-asses and brilliantly strong. But more so, they are caring, empowering, and encouraging. The same goes for our dance, acro and hoop team.
Please understand that I have loved this job. To my students — I have been honored to be your teacher and studio leader. You have amazed me over and over with your dedication and willingness to challenge your perception of what you’re capable of. You have lifted up those around you, and been mentors to the beginning students. You are kind, and you are lights to others just starting to accept their bodies and do something for themselves. Even though this will look much different, we will always have the friendships we have forged at MAYA. I will always think of you dearly, and I am so grateful for this experience.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and we will keep you updated with new information as soon as developments proceed.
A place where two worlds meet : for the athletes who train, run and condition; and the dancers who search for beauty in every workout, whether on the ground, atop a partner, or flying in the air.
A place for the two to meet in the middle : to cross-train, mobilize, stretch, integrate, re-align, stabilize, expand, try new things, and stay curious about life and movement.
The closest thing on earth to flying. Traction, tone & stretch, or climb, drop & dance.
Adult dance classes for all levels, cause it's never too late to learn some new moves.
Shape therapy inside the spinning steel circle of a lyra, or aerial hoop. Home sweet home.
An acrobatic practice that blends trust, partner conditioning, communication & dance flows.
Spin, slip and wind around the ropes of a dance trapeze. Closest thing to joining the circus.
A sneaky mix of core, coordination, footwork, balance, dance, focus and twirling therapy.
