Larissa “Lara” Koffskey was born and raised in Greenville, SC, and began her dance training at age 6 at the School of Carolina Ballet Theatre, where she trained under Barbara Selvy, Hernan Justo, and Anita Pacylowski Justo. She attended numerous summer intensive training programs, including The Rock School for Dance Education in Philadelphia, North Carolina School of the Arts, American Ballet Theatre in New York City, and The Art of Classical Ballet in Pompano Beach, Florida.
Upon completing high school, Lara joined Carolina Ballet Theatre as a professional dancer and was given many exciting opportunities including an international tour to Uruguay and a chance to work with acclaimed choreographer Alonzo King. Her roles with the company include “Clara” and the “Sugar Plum Fairy” in The Nutcracker, “Kitri” in Don Quixote, and the Peasant Pas De Deux in Giselle. During her time with the company, she also instructed ballet school students in ballet, jazz, and tap. After spending a few months in New York City pursuing a dance career in 2013, Lara decided it was time for a change and took a new path with a focus in teaching dance.
Lara completed her 6-month aerial training with Kelly VanLeeuwen and received her aerial yoga certification through Levity Aerial Yoga in May 2016.
She enjoys sharing her appreciation of the arts, dance, and movement with the Greenville community. She is a beloved teacher at Dance Arts and Barre 3.
